We look at platform charges, dealing costs, surrender terms, currency exposure, underlying assets and who is responsible for custody. If the cost cannot be explained plainly, the conversation stops.

Capital is at risk. Values fall as well as rise, liquidity can vary and tax treatment depends on your circumstances and residence. Your own tax adviser remains responsible for the tax answer.
